DESCRIPTION :

We are looking at more or less 2-3 days’ home stays in the villages around Opuwo area, where quest will be living with the Himba and be hosted by the families in their villages.

ITINERARY :

 

Day 1: arrival around 14h00

​

• Drive to the village

• Welcoming by the village head/headman in traditional outfit

• Tour of the village and social discussion around campfire

 

Day 2:  visit to the holy fire 

​

• Traditional rituals 

• Visit to the main hut

• Prepare livestock, cattle and goats, milking ceremony when is the right time to do that

• Follow animals to water holes, waters animals, optional

• Lunch in between

• Scenic drive

• Afternoon activities/cultural dances, exposure to what Himba/Herero people do in the evening

 

Day 3:   prepare for departure

• Breakfast/ Himba breakfast

• Travel to the air strip and departure;

 

INCLUS :

1. Community levy is included in the daily rates

2. In between activities include, a visit to the local village, veld food walk.

IMPORTANT :

1. The tour will at least consist of 2 vehicles to four at a time with a guiding vehicle in front.

2. The guests to be self-contained, driving their own vehicle preferably with roof tents.

3. Guests to cater for the own food and drinks however the guide may assist with setting up the camp, helping where ever as his help is needed.

4. Own insurance.
